Typical Diving Schedule

Pickup for departure from your accommodation is usually at 07:30. Return to our dock is around 15:00 on three-dive days. Our dive center is about five minutes from most Gorontalo hotels. Gorontalo City is a bustling Sulawesi town full of friendly locals. Its streets are swept clean every morning.

Upon arrival at our dive center, you will board one of our speedboats, which are custom-built for diving. Our staff has everyone’s scuba equipment set up and ready for safety checks. We provide towels, but we ask divers to support our plastic reduction program by bringing their own refillable water bottles. Prior to diving, everyone is required to complete a liability release in English, Indonesian, or Japanese that includes scuba diving license and experience details.

Within a fifteen-minute boat ride is a cluster of dive sites. These sites feature wrecks, coral walls, muck, slopes with pinnacles, and submerged points. Other dive sites in Gorontalo include caverns and overhangs. Miguel’s Diving currently offers over 30 varied dive sites. Sites for the day depend on diver interest and ocean conditions. For those reasons, we do not determine dive sites in advance.

Our dive masters provide briefings in English and Indonesian, covering safety procedures specific to Gorontalo’s quickly changing weather. With five full-time dive masters, we easily group divers according to skill and interest. Divers can choose to enter the ocean via back roll or put the tank on in the water.

Many dive sites in Gorontalo face deep ocean waters. The pristine coral walls are complex and intriguing. There is so much to see! Please stay within safe diving limits. Hard coral reefs rise to a few meters of the surface, making for an enjoyable safety stop. We ask all divers to remove scuba gear in the water, which our staff lifts into the dive boat.

Our no-decompression dives last up to 60 minutes with an hour surface interval between the first two dives. Then we take a 90-minute break for rest and a delicious, local lunch on board or at a secluded beach.
For safety, we ask that your No Decompression Limit (NDL) stay above 10 minutes. Please note that the nearest hyperbaric chamber is ten hours away in Manado. Although not required, we suggest DAN insurance for peace of mind. At the end of every diving day, our staff washes your scuba equipment. For planning your onward journey, please note the international no-fly time of 18 hours minimum.
